Find your hospital's financial-assistance application
Search by hospital name, health system, city, or ZIP code. Every Medicare-registered hospital in the country is here.
5,432 facilities across 56 states and territories, from the CMS Hospital General Information dataset. No financial-assistance policy has completed Kave's review yet — every hospital page currently shows the unverified guidance below.
How this works
Step 1
Find the facility
Search handles former names, health systems, misspellings, and nearby facilities by ZIP.
Step 2
Check the verification label
Verified, partially verified, needs re-review, or not yet verified — stated at the top of every page.
Step 3
Open the official application
Kave links to the hospital's own documents. It does not host copies or ask you to apply through Kave.
Step 4
Apply, and say you have applied
Tell the billing office in writing that an application is pending. That is often what pauses collection activity.
Common questions
What is hospital financial assistance?
Most nonprofit hospitals are required by federal law to run a written financial-assistance policy — often called charity care — that reduces or eliminates the bill for patients who cannot pay. The rules, the income limits, and the forms are set by each hospital individually. Can I still apply if my bill already went to collections?
Usually yes. Many hospitals accept applications for up to 240 days after the first bill, and some accept them later than that. Applying can also pause collection activity while the hospital decides.Do I have to be uninsured to qualify?
No. Many hospital policies cover insured patients whose share of the bill is large relative to their income. Being insured is not, by itself, a reason not to apply. Why does Kave say some hospitals are not yet verified?
Kave lists every Medicare-registered hospital so you can find yours, but it only publishes eligibility details a reviewer has personally confirmed against the hospital's official documents. Where that review has not happened, Kave shows the hospital's own billing number and what to ask for, rather than inventing a threshold.
